Introduction & Orientation
The session begins with a brief introduction to Forest Therapy and the benefits of nature immersion. Participant(s) are introduced to the concept of “Shinrin Yoku” (forest bathing) and are encouraged to leave behind distractions of everyday life. Location can be anywhere participant(s) choose, whether inside their homes by a window, plants, other natural items, or outdoors on a local trail. A strong cellular signal is recommended as some trails and areas may be too remote for connection. Disrupted service can be managed, but is ideal to keep contact for the duration of the walk.
Guided Walk
The walk will begin with a series of invitations (suggested practices or prompts) to help participant(s) slow down, engage with nature, and enhance their intentional awareness. These invitations can involve mindful observation, sensory exploration, play, and gentle activities that encourage connection with themselves, others, and the environment.
Nature-Based Practices
Various activities may be included, such as
Mindful Breathing
Grounding Techniques
Solo Reflection Time
Share Circle & Closing Ceremony
Throughout the walk, after each invitation, the group or individual will be asked to gather on the screen to share their experiences and insights. This helps build a sense of connection and community among participants and fosters reflection on how the experience can be applied in their personal lives. The Closing Ceremony includes gathering with something made or brought by each participant (suggestion of tea) to share virtually together.
Benefits & Takeaways
Participant(s) leave the walk with a greater sense of calm, reduced stress, and tools for self-care that can be used in their daily lives. The walk can also help enhance creativity, physical well-being, and emotional resilience.
